MC proposes temporary chairs, tables outside eateries

The Municipal Corporation (MC) has proposed to give permission for placing temporary tables and chairs in front of eating joints for the whole day.

The agenda regarding this will be tabled at the MC House meeting on July 30. At present, the MC gives permission for placing temporary tables and chairs only for the evening (7 pm to 10 pm). Now, the civic body wants that the permission should also be given from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm.

At present, shopkeepers pay between Rs 3,000 and Rs 7,000 for availing of this facility. Now, they will have to shell out between Rs 4,500 and 10,500 per month for placing temporary tables and chairs in front of their shops.

For corner shops, the rates will be higher because they have more space. While in day food joint markets like Sector 15 and 11 where there are no existing charges for getting permission, the MC will levy Rs 3,000 per shop, if the proposal get nod in the House.

Besides, agenda regarding disposing waste at the processing plant and managing its RDF will also be taken up at the House meeting. It will include disposal of waste generated by shops and booths in Sector 17/22 subway, Sector 39-D and Mauli Jagran on lease hold basis.
