Rs 30 L jewellery stolen from retired Army officer’s house

Chandigarh, July 29

A theft has been reported from a retired Army officer’s house in Sector 33. According to a complaint, diamond and gold jewellery worth around Rs30 lakh was found missing.

The theft came to light on July 27. The police have lodged a DDR at the Sector 34 police station and have initiated an investigation into the matter.

The theft took place at the house of Lt Col Jagmohan Singh Bindra (retd), who is 88 years old and lives with his 80-year-old wife Lakhbir Kaur Bindra. The elderly couple’s residence also houses a maid and her family in the servant quarters.

The senior citizens have no clue as to when the theft took place. On July 27, their son, Lt Col GMS Bindra (retd), who also lives in Chandigarh, paid a visit to the house. He enquired from his mother why she was not wearing jewellery.

“She told me she doesn’t feel like wearing jewellery. Then she asked me to take out her diamond bangles
