Take cue from Delhi, cut oil prices: Hooda

Chandigarh, July 30

Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda has asked the state government to a cue from the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi, which has reduced VAT on diesel bringing down the price by Rs 8.36 a litre in the national capital.

“The crude oil prices in the international market have reduced to the level prevalent in 2004, but the state and the Centre continue to tax petroleum products, adding to the misery of farmers and the middle class. The BJP government in Haryana must follow Delhi’s example and reduce VAT on fuel,” he said here on Thursday.

The former Chief Minister also gave the example of his government to hit out at the BJP dispensation. “The VAT on diesel was around nine per cent during the Congress rule. It has almost doubled during the BJP government,” he added. — TNS
