Gurugram to get biodiversity park

Gurugram, August 19

In what has left environmentalists and conservationists elated, 100 acres in the Aravalis in Kasan village will be transformed into a biodiversity park. Forest Minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar reviewed the area after the local panchayat gave its nod to the project.

"Haryana has just 3 per cent forest cover and we wish to enhance it to 20. We've allowed plantation on around 1,000 acres, but the key is to replenish the Aravalis and such parks are the only way out."

As per a report, over 10,000 acres had been compromised in the last 15 years. The area under the national conservation zone had been reduced from 47,980 acres in 2005 to 37,270 acres in 2020. — TNS
