Colony residents seek houses under PM scheme

Chandigarh, September 17

Several residents of the Sector 25 colony have demanded the allotment of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

In a letter to the chief executive officer, Chandigarh Housing Board, Aamda, Gulaba, Munesh, Monika, Bunty, Brijender, Prakashi, Vinod Kumar and Ankit, all residents of the colony, stated that they had applied under the scheme on March 25, 2017, and thereafter, verification was done by officials concerned in February 2018, but even after more than three and a half years, they had heard nothing in this regard.

They said they were facing hardships due to delay in allotment of houses constructed under the scheme in Maloya. They said due to the ongoing monsoon season, water accumulated all around the colony causing unhygienic conditions. Due to heavy rainfall, roofs started leaking profusely and the whole family could not sleep throughout the night, they said.

They said despite the fact that houses are complete and ready for possession, they failed to understand the logic behind the delay in starting the process of allotment. — TNS
