Covid-19: 25 more succumb, 1,562 fresh cases in Haryana

With 1,562 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, the Covid tally in the state went past 1.26 lakh today. A total of 25 deaths pushed the toll to 1,356.

Three deaths each were reported from Rohtak, Hisar and Yamunanagar, two each from Panipat, Bhiwani, Kurukshetra and Sirsa and one each from Fatehabad, Nuh, Panchkula, Palwal, Ambala, Rewari, Gurugram and Faridabad.

The maximum fresh cases were reported from Gurugram (242), followed by Faridabad (168), Kurukshetra (143), Rohtak (114), Sonepat (112) and Hisar (99).

A total of 1,186 fatalities had comorbidities. A total of 2,403 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 1.1 lakh.

In Rohtak, 116 shelter home inmates positive

A total of 116 inmates at a shelter home for the mentally and physically challenged on the outskirts of Rohtak have tested positive for Covid.

Two Covid-positive inmates have died recently. The manager of the shelter home has recovered after testing positive.

The health authorities have deployed two teams to carry out regular check-up of inmates, trace their contacts and take other measures as per the protocol.

"Covid-positive inmates of the Jan Sewa Sansthan, who were below 18 years or above 45 years of age were initially shifted to the Civil Hospital or PGIMS. They were sent back to the shelter home in view of their special needs," said Dr Tarun Madhur, district public health manager for Covid. An isolation facility was set up for them on the premises of a school being run by the Jan Sewa Sansthan, he added.
