Pandemic casts a shadow on functioning of Chandigarh Housing Board

Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, September 14

Covid-19 has hit the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB), as nearly 30 employees have been quarantined and another 30 deployed on pandemic-related duties.

Last week, the UT Administration had declared the houses of several board employees in Sector 45 a containment zone.

Sources said with several employees being quarantined or put on Covid-related duties, the work on various projects was getting affected and people were also facing inconvenience in getting their routine works such as transfer of property, approval for need-based changes and sale deed done.

A senior CHB official said some of the work was being affected, but they were trying to get the routine works done with the available emloyees. Priority was given to the Covid-19 duty, which was necessary, he added.

With the prime objective to provide reasonably priced, good quality housing to persons residing in the UT, the CHB has constructed more than 67,565 houses of various categories so far.
