Solan bizman dies in SUV crash

Zirakpur, September 17

A 35-year-old businessman from Solan died while his maternal uncle was critically injured when their Mahindra SUV rammed into a crane on a flyover on the Zirakpur-Kalka highway last night.

The businessman, Ankur Singal, was rushed to the Civil Hospital in Panchkula, where he was declared brought dead. His uncle Arvind Sherwan was admitted to a private hospital in Rohtak. The mishap took place at 2 am. Ankur was driving the SUV. It was completely damaged.

The police said the victim and his uncle were returning to Himachal Pradesh from Sriganganagar where they had gone for some business purpose. Ankur was into chocolate business.

The police said the crane was coming from the wrong side with headlights and indicators off. Sources said the street lights near the spot were not working.

The hook of the crane reportedly hit Ankur's head. As a result, he was tossed out of the SUV along with the seat. The hook ripped apart the roof of the SUV. After the incident, the crane driver, identified as Pawan, sped away. The deceased is survived by his wife and a two-year-old son. — TNS
