Hisar, September 8

A woman has confessed to killing her two minor daughters around three months ago in Khedar village of Hisar district. She, too, had attempted suicide but was rushed to a hospital and saved.

The police said the woman, identified as Charya, 32, had recovered from her injuries yesterday and during questioning confessed to murdering her two daughters — one-year-old Kiran and three-year-old Mamta — at their residence on the night of May 24.

The police said that during questioning, Charya had stated that she was fed up with the harassment by her husband and in-laws and wanted to commit suicide but was concerned about the future of her two daughters. Thereafter, she slit the throats of her two daughters with a knife and also injured herself with it. She was rushed to a hospital. Her husband Ahmad, too, died in a road accident last month.

SHO Kuldeep Singh said the police had registered a case under sections 302 and 309 of the IPC against the accused and started investigation.
