Zirakpur, October 19
The police have arrested a man, who allegedly murdered his wife at his Dhakoli house a few days ago.
According to the police, the suspect, Ashok Saini, was arrested from Sector 17, Chandigarh, last night. He allegedly killed his wife, Sudesh (45), by attacking her with an axe when she was asleep. He attacked her on the neck. During the attack, her thumb got chopped off.

On the motive behind the murder, SP (Rural) Ravjot Grewal said, "The two used to suspect each other's character. This would often lead to fights between them. Following one such fight, he attacked her when she was asleep. It was a fatal attack."
After the incident, he dragged her body to the bathroom. He left the house later. When his-22-year-old son called him to know where his mother was the next morning, he informed him that he had killed her. Saini, who was into the business of aluminium doors, has been remanded in two-day police custody. — TNS
