NHM director checks healthcare facilities

Ropar, October 29

Kumar Rahul, director, National Health Mission (NHM), visited the Ropar Civil Hospital today to take stock of the health facilities available in the district, especially to tackle Covid-19 cases.

Ropar Deputy Commissioner Sonali Giri, had brought to the notice of the mission director that there was a dire need to strengthen health infrastructure in Nangal, Nurpur Bedi and Chamkaur Sahib.

The Deputy Commissioner told him that the Nangal Civil Hospital hospital had been facing acute shortage of doctors and paramedical staff, due to which patients had to visit Anandpur Sahib or Ropar for treatment.

"It is risky for critically ill patients to travel 60 km to reach Ropar," she said.

The project director assured to look into the matter. He said he would visit other hospitals in the district to know about the difficulties being faced by medicos and residents. — TNS
