Traders want fire tender, ambulance stationed at Plaza in Sector 17, Chandigarh

Chandigarh, October 19

The Chandigarh Traders Association, Sector 17, has demanded a fire tender and an ambulance to be stationed at the Plaza in view of the ongoing festival season.

Association president Kamaljit Singh Panchhi said members discussed about the safety of visitors and their shops due to expected rush at the Sector 17 market during the Navratri, Dasehra, Karwa Chauth and Diwali festivals.

Panchhi urged the UT Administrator that a fire tender and an ambulance be permanently stationed near the police chowki at the Plaza to tackle any fire incident during these days.

Panchhi said the lockdown had proved as a jolt to the business community. "All shopkeepers and traders are already suffering from huge losses as businesses were closed due to the Covid-induced lockdown. They have to start their business again by working hard and they are not in a position to face any further losses as everyone is struggling to meet expenses," he said. — TNS
