Youth dies in firing incident in Muktsar, kin cry foul

The family members of a youth, who they lost in a firing incident, lodged a protest outside the Malout Civil Hospital. They allegedly held the owner of the shop, where their son used to work, responsible for negligence.

The deceased has been identified as Bablu.

The incident took place at the deceased's workplace at Gur Bazar in Malout town on Wednesday evening.

Reportedly, a youth had opened fire at the crockery shop, resulting in the death of Bablu. Owner of the shop Harpal has lodged a complaint with the police alleging that the accused, Gursewak Singh, a Class IV employee of a school in Lambi, had opened fire outside his residence also.

Reportedly, the shop owner's sister and the deceased had got into a verbal spat some time ago. Irked over the spat, the accused had opened fire. The city police have registered a case in this regard. The accused was on the run, the police said.
