2-hour relaxation for sale, use of crackers on Diwali

Hisar, November 8

The state government has announced two-hour relaxation in sale and bursting of crackers on Diwali evening, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said during an interaction with mediapersons in Fatehabad town today.

He said the ban on fireworks had been imposed in view of the soaring air pollution index, which was also a reason for the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the state.

The ban (with two-hour relaxation) had been imposed to adhere to the guidelines of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and also to bring down the air pollution level, Khattar said.

The decision to give the relaxation has come a day after the Haryana Fireworks Association submitted a memorandum asking for two-hour permission for fireworks.

Association president Bijender Beniwal had mentioned in the letter that low emission fireworks were manufactured as per the instructions of the Supreme Court and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, therefore, the question of air pollution did not arise. — TNS
