Panjab University faculty wants PUTA registered with Chandigarh Administration

Chandigarh, November 5

The Panjab University faculty have written to the Panjab University Teachers Association (PUTA) secretary to register the body with the UT Administration. Prof Mohammed Khalid said, "In these uncertain times PUTA has to grope for its relevance and legitimacy as representative of aspirations and expectations of university teachers. As of now, PUTA is neither recognised by the university, nor it is registered. This position of PUTA will weaken its operational strength."

"PUTA should gets itself registered with the UT Administration. This will enable association to voice its concerns not only within the university, but also with the UT Administration, state and Centre government," added Khalid. "Faculty colleagues are also anxious to know the status of PUTA's representation in the governing body of the university," the letter further stated. — TNS
