Rs 53 cr sanctioned for sanitation works in Abohar

To cover the entire urban population of around 1.67 lakh people in Abohar, a subdivisional town of Fazilka district, the state government has expanded the ambit of sewerage, drinking water and street light schemes.

While Rs 53 crore has been sanctioned to provide sewerage and water facilities to the localities that had not been covered under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) yojana, Rs 2.5 crore will be spent on replacing all sodium vapour lamps and tube lights with LED lamps. The number of street lights will be increased from 3,400 to 10,000 as many colonies had not been provided with street lights earlier.
