Two arrested for demanding Rs3L ransom from doc

Faridabad, November 1

Two persons have been arrested for demanding Rs 3 lakh as ransom from a doctor and threatening to kill him for not meeting the demand.

A cop said the accused were identified as Avinash of Vishwakarma Colony and Vicky of Ambedkar Nagar in New Delhi. They were nabbed on the basis of a phone call made to the doctor who ran a clinic in Dayalbagh Colony here.

Vicky told the police that he made the call as he had a debt of Rs 65,000. “Being a family doctor, the victim was an easy target as he would have been able to shell out this amount of money,” it is claimed.

The accused were sent to judicial custody after the recovery of the phone from which the call was made. — TNS
