Woman shares OTP, loses Rs 3.34 lakh

Panchkula, November 22

A 40-year-old woman from Pinjore lost Rs3.34 lakh within a few minutes of her sharing a one-time password (OTP) with a cyber crook posing as a manager of her bank.

Rajni Dwivedi of Adarsh Nokwal Colony said she received a phone call from a person, who introduced himself as the branch manager of the SBI and claimed that her debit card was about to expire.

"He told me that I must have received an OTP on my phone. As soon as I shared the OTP with him, Rs3,34,900 got deducted from my bank account," the complainant stated.

A case has been registered under Section 420 of the IPC at the Pinjore police station. — TNS
