Poultry owners submit memo to P’kula DC

Panchkula, January 11

The poultry farm owners, under the banner of the Haryana Poultry Farmers Association, submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja here today.

From restricting the culling to only affected farms to increasing the compensation announced by the Haryana Government for killing birds, the association has urged the authorities to look into their concerns so that the “dying industry” can be saved.

Darshan Singla, president of the association, said: “The virus found in poultry farms in the Barwala belt is not lethal and there is no proof, to date, of the virus being transmitted to humans. Still, the government passed orders for the culling of birds. It has announced a compensation of Rs 90 per bird even though the costing is somewhere between Rs 450-500 per bird.” — TNS
