Two killed in car-truck collision

Two persons were killed after their car collided with a truck near Sidhuwal village here today. Family members of the deceased said the car went out of control as another vehicle in its front took an abrupt turn.

In his complaint, Balwinder Singh of Rauni village of Bhadson said his relative Atinderjit Singh was commuting along with his two friends Samandeep Singh and Samarpreet Singh when

a Bolero car took an abrupt turn in front of their vehicle. As a result, their car went out of control and rammed into a truck coming from the other side, he added.

Atinderjit died on the spot while the other two were admitted to a hospital in the city, he said. Later, Samarpreet died during treatment, he added.

The police have registered a case against Bolero car driver Karanvir Singh of Chhoti Rauni village of Bashiwala and truck driver Naresh Kumar of Amritsar under Sections 283 (danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation), 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 304-A (causing death by negligence), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of Rs50) of the IPC.
