Two of the five suspects, who were booked on a charge of opening fire in Sector 15, have been arrested. The suspects, Jenta and Nikhil, will be produced in a court tomorrow.

Five persons, including Mannu Dubey, husband of Chandigarh Mahila Congress president Deipa Asdhir Dubey, were booked on a charge of opening fire outside Dubey's house. The suspects allegedly fired three gunshots to threaten the house tenant and his friends, who were also "assaulted", on the intervening night of February 14 and 15.

The police said Mannu Dubey and his accomplices had obstructed the way of complainant Gurdass Singh (23) and had argued with him over repeatedly inviting outsiders to the house.

Mannu and his accomplices allegedly thrashed the complainant and his friend Ravi. Later, during the night, the complainant and his friends returned to the rented accommodation to collect their belongings and their car. In the meantime, Mannu and his accomplices — Jenta, Nikhil, Vishal and Tarsem Singh — who were carrying sticks and arms, caught hold of complainant's friend Manjit and started assaulting him.

Police sources said Tarsem reportedly fired gunshots into the air to threaten the victims and later escaped. — TNS
