Mohali, February 8

Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Monday appealed to people of Mohali to elect the Congress candidates by a landslide victory in the Municipal Corporation elections to pave the way for the all-round development of the city.

Balbir Sidhu, while campaigning in favour of the Congress candidates, said it was imperative for the party to take over the reins of the Municipal Corporation in order to break the stagnation in the development of the city and take it to new heights.

Describing the Azad Group as a nefarious alliance of "selfish, self-centred and opportunistic" people, Sidhu said the so-called Azad Group was, in fact, a personal team of Sukhbir Singh Badal who had disguised these Akali office-bearers as "Independent Group" out of fear of public outrage over disrespect for religious texts and the questionable role of his party in the farm laws.
