House caretaker, taxi driver commit suicide

Two incidents of suicide were reported from the city today. In one of the incidents, victim Balam Singh (45), who worked as a caretaker at a house in Sector 18, committed suicide by jumping from the roof of the house. A PCR team rushed him to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, where doctors declared him brought dead. The victim was reportedly depressed and had also visited the hospital on February 5. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

The other incident was reported from Dadu Majra Colony. A 28-year-old man, Manpreet, a taxi driver, committed suicide by hanging himself. The police said the victim had a fight with his wife sometime ago after which she left the house. The victim was reportedly depressed. Inquest proceedings have been initiated at the Maloya police station.
